Jupiter enters Scorpio today [October 10th, 9:20AM, EST] ushering in growth and expansion through transmutation, something I’m personally looking forward to. Jupiter in Scorpio, for me, symbolizes fearlessness and survival; a sort of spiritual digging/unearthing, and there’s nothing pretty about it. That’s the joy of it all (at least for me it is) raw and penetrating.

I also foresee an increase in occult studies, shadow work, and the darker parts of the soul/psyche. We see this in popular culture with the rise of television shows that deal with everything from zombies (The Walking Dead), witchcraft and mediumship (Midnight Texas), and magical Gods (American Gods)

Jupiter is tied into religion and faith, more so than Neptune. Even the church of Satan has become more visible. After all, Scorpio’s ruler (Pluto/Hades) rules the underworld, and getting down and dirty to the heart of the matter is what Scorpio does best.

Of course themes surrounding sex and death (death can also be symbolic) may also take center stage during this time.

Facing our “demons” (and possibly be-friending them) can bring about a wonderful learning and healing opportunity. Scorpio has tremendous regenerative abilities.

This takes me back to my 2006 solar return when Jupiter was in Scorpio. I went through a divorce and the death of a loved one, but I also began to reevaluate what I valued and even my own self-worth. Jupiter in Scorpio was transiting my 2nd house at the time and it felt as though I had unearthed a buried treasure. I also shed some of my materialism, de-cluttered, and realized how liberating it was to live with less.

I wasn’t a big fan of Jupiter in Libra, believe it or not. All that “niceness” was becoming too contrived for me, almost phoney in some regards. I don’t see us holding back with Jupiter in Scorpio. And why would we want to?

Venus enters Cancer – July 29th, 2017: Security and lasting bonds

Venus enters nurturing Cancer today (July 29th) at 10:54 AM EST. Venus’ in Cancer’s strong need for bonds, protection and closeness will have us on a quest for the ideal “family” situation. Family isn’t always those we are related to: work bonds (10th) partnerships (7th) and other facets of our lives will more than likely get an emotional overhaul during this Venus phase; Cancer’s hard outer shell could also have us on the defensive, forcing up to protect what we hold near and dear. Security will be desired whether it’s on the home front or in the work place.

Ceres in Cancer, at 8 Degrees, is conjunct her daughter’s abductor, Hades. Hades can often symbolize decay and deeply buried sorrows from our past. With Hades in Cancer these feelings are magnified. Ceres’ nurturing energy combined with Hades can bring forth transformation and healing (though it may be a bit painful) and we may also offer healing counselling to those we love, or even those we don’t know. Sit with your feelings and allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel in order to heal.

Venus in Cancer also has a “shadow” side and this may be triggered with her tight conjunction to Hades. Smothering and being emotionally attached can lead to possessiveness, allowing hurt from the past to consume, and make it difficult for us to move forward.

During the Lunar Eclipse on August 7th, Venus will pair up with Ceres and trine Neptune in Pisces. Divine (Neptune) mother (Ceres) energy will be quite strong during this time; make a small offering to the goddess or to the maternal figures in our lives that we’ve lost. Even better, honor the divine within.

Venus entered dreamy Pisces on January 3rd [2:46 AM EST] this has been an extremely Piscean month with the warrior goddess of the higher mind and strategic planning, Pallas, entering Pisces on December 28th and Eros, symbol of passion and desires, ingress into Pisces on November 26th. From January 1st-January 7th Eros and Psyche (the seat of the soul at 19 degrees Virgo) will oppose each other triggering feelings of love, passion and vulnerability that may seem overwhelming. The asteroid Fortuna is also in Pisces! Bringing with her a much needed lucky streak. With both Mars and Neptune in Pisces there may be some confusion about how we can take action and we may find ourselves withdrawing all together. Venus in Pisces creates an aura of creativity and dreams.

January 3rd: The Pisces Moon conjuncts Mars at 11 degrees [1:36 Am] we take action intuitively relying on inner knowing. Confusion can brew as well bringing with it veiled aggression. We’ll rely on faith more than anything.

January 4th: Mercury Rx (Capricorn) eases back into Sagittarius today [9:16 AM] expansive thinking causes us to think big. Moon enters Fiery Aries at 11:20 AM. Enjoy the heat! Moon in Aries can be quite impulsive. Look before you leap.

January 5th [1:40 AM] Venus semi-squares Pluto and Uranus in Aries trine’s Juno in Sagittarius both at 20 degrees [3:45 AM] Relationships may come to a head with this passionate configuration. For Venus/Pluto love is a transformative act that can lead to regeneration and healing. Consuming passions can lead to manipulative actions. Uranus/Juno desires freedom within their bonds and a partner that makes room for self-expression. Relationships that seem too restrictive may get the boot.

Moon squares Pluto [5:16 PM] using emotional blackmail and thinking we have the upper hand could lead to some internal conflict. Be as open and upfront as you can with your feelings (this could be a challenge for Moon/Pluto energy) even if you’re feeling more covert. This is also the perfect planetary energy for shadow work.

The hotheaded Aries Moon forms a conjunction to Uranus at 20 degrees [11:14 PM] this creates impulsiveness that one may regret later due to a need for emotional freedom. This fiery energy is at odds with all of the Pisces energy that is swirling around us. An aversion to emotional dependency causes us to break free and forge ahead on our own.

January 6th: Moon enters Taurus [3:18 PM]

January 7th: Sun conjuncts Pluto [1:44 AM] at 17 degrees. Personal power is on the agenda and making sure others don’t exert their power over us. We’re in survival mode with both the Sun/Pluto in highly driven Capricorn. We’re tenacious and hell bent on succeeding.

January 8th: Mercury in Sagittarius inches direct at 28 degrees [4:42 AM] The objective and disciplined thought process of Capricorn is replaced with a more free-spirited and spontaneous approach. Enjoy this shift. On January 12th, Mercury officially enters Capricorn [9:03 AM] until February 7th, when it enters Aquarius. Moon enters inquisitive Gemini [5:06 PM] We’re emotionally fed through communication, writing and learning.

Weekly Planetary Trends: December 19-29

jacob-cornelis-van-oostsanen-the-adoration-of-magiDecember 19, 5:55AM EST ushered in Mercury’s retrograde phase in Capricorn at 15 degrees. The beauty of retrograde phases, and yes, there is beauty, lies in the ability to revisit situations and dot our “I’s” and cross our “T’s.” Mercury Rx often triggers panic but it can be a productive time if the energy is harnessed properly and constructively. In Capricorn a cautious approach is best. The results may surprise you.

December 19th also brought with it Mars’ ingress into Pisces [4:23AM]. This placement encourages us to take action intuitively; we assert ourselves with a certain level of sensitivity, colored with emotional martyrdom. A prime example of this energy was displayed with the recent assassination of Andrey Karlov, Russian ambassador to Turkey.

On December 21st the Sun enters Capricorn [5:44AM] aligning with the Winter Solstice. The Sun in Earth is a symbol of practicality, forcing us to navigate through the material world with a sense of purpose and sharp focus. Capricorn is a sign associated with hard work that brings with it tangible results. Capricorn’s Cardinal vibration is about self-control and ambitious determination. This frequency combined with Mercury’s Rx phase triggers a cautious drive that enables us to make our desires a reality. There is nothing pie-in-the-sky about this this planetary energy.

On the evening before Christmas, December 24th [7:21PM] Saturn at 20 degrees in Sagittarius forms a trine to Uranus Rx at 20 degrees Aries. Here we have structured (Saturn) energy harmoniously merging with individualistic freedom (Uranus). Perhaps during this holiday season family members who feel like outsiders will find security and approval from like-minded individuals. This time of the year can be especially difficult for those who are dealing with family trauma and tense relations with relatives. Family isn’t always genetic. Celebrating the holidays with those who love and support us for who we are as unique individuals is the only real family we need and this may come in the form of a social group/club. Uranus embodies the energies of its sign, Aquarius: a universal/collective family.

The day after Christmas, December, 26th [1:35PM] Jupiter in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries. Our faith in change is heightened during this period and with all that’s going on in the word politically I’m not surprised. Uranus’ radical/anarchist energy in fiery Aries will be fueled by the rays of Jupiter (already a gas giant). There’s a tug-of-war between a diplomatic approach (Libra) and breaking free from conventional ways of thinking with bulldozer-like force (Aries) Here we have the “I” vs. “We” axis awakened.

New Moon in Capricorn at 7 Degrees makes its presence known on December 29th [1:53AM EST] the same day as Uranus’ direct station at 20 Degrees 33 Minutes [4:29AM] The new moon forms a conjunction to Mercury and sextiles Mars/Neptune in Pisces. This is a lovely mix of empathic-creative energy. Uranus’ direct motion uncorks just in time for the new year after starting its Rx phase on July 29th, releasing some of the bottled up tension I’ve been hearing people talk about so much. A flexible state of being is definitely needed for the unpredictable nature Uranus possesses. Keep an open mind.

Scorpio New Moon – October 30th, 2016: Mystical Merging

The Crystal Oracle

This New Moon in Scorpio at 7 degrees [1:38 PM EST] is quite bewitching with it’s trine to Neptune/South Node in Pisces and conjunction to Mercury. I pulled 3 cards from The Crystal Oracle and they tied into this New Moon perfectly.

Amber Keywords:PurificationCreativityTransparency.

Scorpio is very much a sign that deals with purification and purging. Transparency can be a challenge due to Scorpio’s private nature but with the New Moon’s trine to Neptune the veil between the physical world and mystical world will be quite thin. Neptunian energy, especially in Pisces, lacks boundaries and merging with those around us won’t be as challenging, but we still have to shield ourselves from absorbing too much. Psychic powers can be dangerous when not harnessed properly. Shielding yourself from energy vampires is a must. Scorpio’s ruler, Pluto possesses the purification abilities that Amber symbolizes and…

The Tarot of Cat People

Victim hood and feeling as though we’ve been treated unfairly is what drives us to accomplish and achieve. We certainly have something to prove, and if any sign can get the job done its, Capricorn.

This is a spread that symbolizes achieving the impossible dream, believing in yourself and new plans (7 of Swords) Mars in Capricorn expresses itself in cautious, yet ambitious ways; The Ace of Swords, while associated with Air/Mercury, functions in a very Mars-like way (especially within this spread) being assertive (Mars) and initiating (swords) ideas and solid plans (Capricorn) is what’s being asked of us. Mars in Capricorn is telling us to get to the heart of the issue, maintain self-discipline and make things happen. This isn’t a pie in the sky scenario. Capricorn requires tangible/earthy results.

Full Moon Eclipse in Pisces – September 16th, 2016: Emotional Triggers & Practical Reasoning

Posted on

img_1227
Yemaya

The Full Moon Eclipse at 24 degrees Pisces [September 16th, 3:05PM EST] is overly sensitive (are we surprised?) with some major emotional triggers; the Pisces/Virgo axis is one of practical reasoning verses emotional responses. We have to be particularly careful how we handle this energy. Those with planets in Pisces/Virgo anywhere between 21-24 degrees will be especially sensitive to this energy, as well as those with planets in mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini)

The Moon’s conjunction to Chiron, Square to Mars, and opposition to Mercury may put us on the defensive and we have to be especially careful in how we communicate with others. The Moon is an emotional vehicle that may be difficult to steer when Chiron is involved, this is due to painful experiences linked to bonding with those around us and the past, yet with all aspects, both good and “bad,” there are opportunities that allow us to grow and evolve (if we’re willing to do the work)

The Sun’s opposition to Chiron creates the painful process of ego healing. The question, “Am I good enough?” may pop up with stressful Sun/Chiron aspects. This eclipse is pushing us,  some of us kicking and screaming, towards transmutation/transformation; we’re at the first stage of the alchemical process during this eclipse, where the soul (Pisces) is dealing with latent forces (Neptune, South Node also in Pisces) vivid dreams and intuitiveness are at an all time high.

Mars in Sagittarius is at the apex of a T-square involving the eclipse. Here we have the action-orientated philosopher bumping heads with Virgo Sun’s desire for order and Pisces Moon’s habit of expressing itself in nebulous ways. There is inner tension in terms of how we assert ourselves.

Venus in Libra opposes unpredictable and impulsive Uranus in Aries. It may be a challenge to remain diplomatic with so many emotional buttons being pushed. There’s a tug-of-war between playing nice (which Libra is known for) rebellion, and establishing ourselves as a distinct individual. There’s nothing wrong with being ourselves, but we need to have a gentle approach when doing so. This could also be a much needed lesson in obtaining a certain level of freedom within our relationships.

Mercury entered Aquarius on February 13th (5:34PM EST) giving our thought process an abstract influence. The way we communicate and express ourselves will be more objective, detached and individualistic. Being mentally flexible and future-oriented (which is Aquarius’ gift) is the best approach. Look to the house Aquarius rules in the natal chart to see where these energies will be expressing themselves.

Venus has a rendezvous with Aquarius when it entered the sign on February 16th (11:17PM EST) building alliances with like-minded souls and unconventional pairings are just a few ways that Venus in Aquarius expresses itself. We may find ourselves desiring independence within our relationships taking on love with a more intellectualized approach. Dealing with rebellious partners? (Perhaps you’re the rebel) playing around with the thought of an open-marriage or communal living? Venus in Aquarius is very much open to various forms of love and non-traditional arrangements. There is no room, or patience, for gender-roles with this Venus sign either. Romance may possibly take a backseat to friendship. Either way, Venus in Aquarius can sometimes have a somewhat impersonal approach when it comes to the love department.

The Sun enters Pisces on February 19th (12:34AM EST) Compassion, sensitivity and deep soul-yearning are all Pisces traits. Deep emotions and hidden depths always come into play during Pisces season.

Mercury at 9 degrees Aquarius Semi-Sextile Neptune at 9 degrees Pisces on February 20th (3:13PM EST) Eccentric ideas coupled with idealism; our mystical/spiritual antennas may be more receptive than usual. Creative, perceptive and altruistic, metaphysical studies and exploration is ideal during this time.

February 20th (4:38PM EST) Sun at 1 degrees Pisces Semi-Square Pluto at 16 degrees Capricorn: Issues surrounding control and personal power may arise. Focus on your own willpower and transformation. Try not to project some of the more “darker” aspects of the ego onto others. Identity issues that are deeply buried may come to the surface. If something needs to be addressed, now is the time to do it.

Venus at 4 degrees Aquarius Semi-Square Chiron in Pisces at 19 degrees on February 20th (10:05PM EST) There may be some internal conflict between the need to be seen as a unique individual separate from the status-quo and wanting to merge and connect. Perhaps a difficult decision needs to be made when it comes to love or there’s some fear of rejection. Draw from past experiences. Chiron is also a great source of healing and learning.

Sun at 2 degrees Pisces Semi-Square Uranus in Aries at 17 degrees on February 21st (10:20PM EST) Feeling like an outsider isn’t always a bad thing. Celebrate your uniqueness without being a brat about it! Outbursts and temperamental behavior can create some tension during an already nervous/jittery day energy-wise. Pisces’ sensitivity coupled with Aries’ compulsiveness may backfire. Take a deep breath and look before you leap.

Venus enters Capricorn – January 23rd, 2016: There’s beauty in commitment & responsibility

Posted on Updated on

IMG_0093
Peter Paul Rubens, “Venus at a mirror,” 1615, Netherlands.

Love and finances take a more serious and mature approach when Venus enters Capricorn (January 23rd, 3:31 PM EST) Affections are expressed in dependable and tangible ways when Venus/Capricorn energies merge. Cautious when it comes to both love and money, Venus in Capricorn very rarely jumps into any kind of     commitment without cautiously weighing the pros and cons; they can often be fearful when it comes to love and relationships, coming across as aloof and somewhat standoffish. This has more to do with Venus in Capricorn’s loyalty and sense of responsibility. Consistency is necessary with this Venus sign. They may seem impersonal (and often cold at times) mainly because they aren’t interested in having their time wasted. Venus in Capricorn desires a love that is long-lasting, durable, and respectful.

Privacy is also an important necessity; wild public displays of affection aren’t this Venus’ cup of tea, unless there’s some aspect from Uranus, and even then, their kinky (Uranus) side is expressed behind closed doors. If there’s a Venus sign that is more than willing to do the work and invest their time on building a solid union, it’s Venus in Capricorn. Their disciplined approach to love and self-control may be a bit off-putting to someone who’s a bit needier, but the benefits of this particular Venus far outweigh the drawbacks.

A prime example is Sagittarius actor, Brad Pitt. His Venus in Capricorn is conjunct his Capricorn Moon, making him a dependable partner to Gemini, Angelina Jolie. He was more than willing to take on the responsibility of a large family (his Jupiter in the fifth house of children is conjunct Angelina’s Moon) and being the father to her two adopted children prior to having his own with her. Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn, is the mature responsible father-archetype; bringing with it discipline and reliability. Considering Angelina’s past and troubled relationship with her own father (Saturn) I can see how she would desire these traits in a partner. Brad’s Venus sits in Angelina’s seventh house of partnerships and this is further proof of the solid support he offers her as a husband.

Resources, values, and money are of great importance and there can be a preoccupation with success and social standing at any cost if expressed in a more negative manner.

Looking at our own charts we need to ask ourselves how we can harness and express the energies that Venus/Capricorn expresses. Transiting the first house, for example, there may be focus on our identity, appearance and the physical body. A more conservative approach may be needed for us to take the initiative and there may be those who perceive us as such. Venus in Capricorn transiting the seventh house may have one desiring a more mature partner (or possibly drawing this type to us) or one who emanates Capricorn-like traits. Our significant other may project these qualities onto us subconsciously and vice-versa.

Where Venus travels in the natal chart is where there’s a focus on values, money, love, how we give/receive and how our affections are expressed.

From a personal stand-point, Capricorn rules my fourth house cusp. Childhood experiences may resurface or I could possibly spend time bringing more structure to my home environment. Venus is also aesthetics: in the fourth house a home with a simple earthy-look could be appealing.

Mercury, God of communication, commerce and to some degree, trickery, is quite busy this week.

Mercurybyhendrickgoltzius
Mercury, with his symbols, Hendrik Goltzius, 1610

January 13th (10:37 AM EST) Sun semi-square Neptune creates feelings of uncertainty and inadequacy may make it difficult for us to focus and make sound decisions. Our sense of self is clouded by the nebulous energy of Neptune in Pisces, making it difficult to get a clear grasp on what it is we really want and who we are. Sun/Neptune aspects (especially the stressful aspects) often force us to look outside of ourselves for direction. Interacting with those who can give us solid feedback can be beneficial.

January 13th  (5:59 PM EST) Sun trine Jupiter. We’re dreaming big and doing big when the Sun forms positive aspects to Jupiter in Virgo. There may be a strong need for us to have our egos stroked, don’t take it overboard. Expansive ideas and goals may be shared with others. We’re feeling positive and hopeful and simply want to spread the joy. Jupiter is a planet of faith and philosophy. Studying these topics can bring a sense of happiness and inner contentment. Be hopeful and dream big.

January 13th (7:26 PM EST) Venus Square Chiron. Wounds surrounding love and how we express love may pose a challenge, yet challenges can bring forth change and action. Venus is a planet associated with the arts. Art is the perfect conduit for healing (Chiron). Difficulties relating and interacting with others may be triggered by past experiences dealing with abandonment; sometimes it has to hurt before it heals. We’re on a quest of self-discovery. Use Chiron as a bridge to self-love and understanding.

January 14 (9:05 AM EST) Sun conjunct Mercury. Communication is vital to our identity and sense of self. Expression through writing is particularly strong and for those who are writers, the combined Capricorn energy gives you the focus and tenacity that’s needed to follow through on creative projects. The ego (Sun) and words (Mercury) are tightly intertwined with this aspect. We’re confident in our abilities to express ourselves. Just try not to let your internal dialogue drown everyone else out.

January 14th (9:15 PM EST) Mercury trine Jupiter. We have big ideas and aren’t afraid to share them or talk about them. Mercury/Jupiter is a master at spinning tall tales. Wonderful opportunity for problem solving and brainstorming with others. We’re more than willing to work with others and seek common ground.

January 15 (1:31 AM EST) Mercury semi-square Neptune. Mercury/Neptune aspects are often intuitive and creative in nature, yet when we’re dealing with tense energy such as the semi-square there may be a struggle to stay focused. Day dreaming and the inability to focus can puta damper on our thought process and our creative endeavors. Communication may be vague and lack of attention to details creates a major challenge. If possible try to too vague when expressing yourself; forgetting details and being half-assed is certainly not the way to go.

January 16th (10:25 AM EST) Mercury semi-sextile Venus. Our words are gentle and sweet, as are those who interact with us. There’s a feeling of charm and gentleness when we interact with others. There’s emphasis on art, beauty and creative writing.
