The Astrology of Angela Davis: Radical Goddess Aspects in the Natal Chart

Posted on Updated on

When looking at Angela Davis’ chart, there is no denying the brilliance, bravery and non-traditional energies she embodies. She pretty much emerged from the womb ready to take on the world!

Pink Angela
Angela Yvonne Davis, Aquarius

Early nurturing influences

Born Angela Yvonne Davis on January 26th 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama (at 12:30 PM) her most elevated planet is her Sun in Aquarius right on the Midheaven. Aquarius, more than any sign in the Zodiac, is always more than willing to fight for the collective consciousness and embrace radical concepts. Her Sun conjuncts the South Node in Aquarius and trines Neptune in Libra in the 6th house of service; It has been her life’s purpose to serve humanity and possibly in a past life (South Node) as well. This spirit of activism was influenced heavily by her mother. Angela’s Moon, associated with the mother and nurturing, is in Aquarius as well and trines Ceres (mother to Persephone, nurturing, parenting) in thought provoking and intellectual Gemini in the 3rd house of communication. Angela’s mother was a leading organizer of The Southern Negro Youth Congress whose influences were heavily colored by the communist party. Her Moon/Ceres aspect in air is a huge indicator of intellectual (Gemini) and progressive (Aquarius) nurturing (Moon/Ceres)

Ceres’ gift to the world was through nourishment/food/harvest. Her placement in Gemini intensifies the need for knowledge and sharing it with others through support and education (she’s the former director of the feminist studies department at the University of California)

Her Pluto in the 4th house gives clues into the intense/dark racial climate Angela dealt with in her living environment. The 1963 church bombings took place in Alabama and this had a huge impact on Angela. While painful, the experiences were life altering and transformational on a deep psychological level. Pluto’s opposition to her Sun is indicative of power struggles from the powers that be and her refusal to allow those in control to rule over her in anyway.

Her Aquarius Sun is at the apex of a lovely and inspiring kite formation in air, which consists of Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Libra, and Pluto in Leo anchoring the aspect. Here we have the freedom fighter with an idealist touch (nearly all of Angela’s planets and goddess asteroids are in air signs) with her Sun conjunct the Midheaven (the collective and how the world at large viewed her and continues to view her) trine Neptune she has become somewhat of a mythological figure and savior (Neptune) to the masses, even if she doesn’t view herself that way.

Feminism and Women’s Issues

Juno in Aquarius is the radical bride. She commits to no one, yet everyone. Juno is also associated with womanhood, marriage, and childbirth. Angela is a staunch supporter of reproductive rights and the rights of women. Her passion is further ignited by Vesta in Gemini in conjunct Uranus and trine her South Node/Sun conjunction. Her we have a deep commitment to serving her inner intellectual/goddess and with its placement in the 1st house it shows a deep desire for individualism and emancipation while sharing these same gifts with the people/women.

Juno is conjunct her Moon in Aquarius. Her activism certainly provides emotional comfort.

Angela’s strong desire to reform and transform extends to the industrial prison complex. The 12th house rules institutions, prison being one of them. Her 12th house ruler (Mars) is conjunct Uranus! Uranus is the archetypal symbol of freedom and transcending traditional restraints that hinder growth. Pallas (Athena) warrior-goddess of wisdom and aid to those in battle, sits in the 12th house in Aries revealing her to be a powerful ally to a group that is often hidden/ignored (12th) This of course included her ties to the Black Panthers and the Communist Party.

Philosophy and Social Consciousness

Mercury in disciplined Capricorn sits in the 9th house of higher-education, philosophy, and foreign travel. While studying French, Angela had a deep interest in philosophy and philosophical thought. Mercury/Capricorn gives one a mature and sober thought process. Even as a child her thinking was advanced. She was awarded a scholarship to Brandies University. The ruler of her 9th house (Saturn) is in Gemini in the 3rd house of writing and communication; Saturn conjuncts Ceres and trines her Moon. To say learning and philosophical thought feeds her emotionally is an understatement. Another curious find is her connection to German-American philosopher, Herbert Marcuse. Angela met him during a rally and he became a mentor to her. Herbert’s Mercury forms a wide conjunction to her Jupiter and his Jupiter conjuncts her Neptune and trine’s her Sun. This is a pleasant and supportive meeting of the minds that encourages expansive thinking. She credited him for helping her to merge her academic and revolutionary ideologies.

Venus enters Capricorn – January 23rd, 2016: There’s beauty in commitment & responsibility

Peter Paul Rubens, “Venus at a mirror,” 1615, Netherlands.

Love and finances take a more serious and mature approach when Venus enters Capricorn (January 23rd, 3:31 PM EST) Affections are expressed in dependable and tangible ways when Venus/Capricorn energies merge. Cautious when it comes to both love and money, Venus in Capricorn very rarely jumps into any kind of     commitment without cautiously weighing the pros and cons; they can often be fearful when it comes to love and relationships, coming across as aloof and somewhat standoffish. This has more to do with Venus in Capricorn’s loyalty and sense of responsibility. Consistency is necessary with this Venus sign. They may seem impersonal (and often cold at times) mainly because they aren’t interested in having their time wasted. Venus in Capricorn desires a love that is long-lasting, durable, and respectful.

Privacy is also an important necessity; wild public displays of affection aren’t this Venus’ cup of tea, unless there’s some aspect from Uranus, and even then, their kinky (Uranus) side is expressed behind closed doors. If there’s a Venus sign that is more than willing to do the work and invest their time on building a solid union, it’s Venus in Capricorn. Their disciplined approach to love and self-control may be a bit off-putting to someone who’s a bit needier, but the benefits of this particular Venus far outweigh the drawbacks.

A prime example is Sagittarius actor, Brad Pitt. His Venus in Capricorn is conjunct his Capricorn Moon, making him a dependable partner to Gemini, Angelina Jolie. He was more than willing to take on the responsibility of a large family (his Jupiter in the fifth house of children is conjunct Angelina’s Moon) and being the father to her two adopted children prior to having his own with her. Capricorn’s ruling planet, Saturn, is the mature responsible father-archetype; bringing with it discipline and reliability. Considering Angelina’s past and troubled relationship with her own father (Saturn) I can see how she would desire these traits in a partner. Brad’s Venus sits in Angelina’s seventh house of partnerships and this is further proof of the solid support he offers her as a husband.

Resources, values, and money are of great importance and there can be a preoccupation with success and social standing at any cost if expressed in a more negative manner.

Looking at our own charts we need to ask ourselves how we can harness and express the energies that Venus/Capricorn expresses. Transiting the first house, for example, there may be focus on our identity, appearance and the physical body. A more conservative approach may be needed for us to take the initiative and there may be those who perceive us as such. Venus in Capricorn transiting the seventh house may have one desiring a more mature partner (or possibly drawing this type to us) or one who emanates Capricorn-like traits. Our significant other may project these qualities onto us subconsciously and vice-versa.

Where Venus travels in the natal chart is where there’s a focus on values, money, love, how we give/receive and how our affections are expressed.

From a personal stand-point, Capricorn rules my fourth house cusp. Childhood experiences may resurface or I could possibly spend time bringing more structure to my home environment. Venus is also aesthetics: in the fourth house a home with a simple earthy-look could be appealing.

Mercury, God of communication, commerce and to some degree, trickery, is quite busy this week.

Mercurybyhendrickgoltzius
Mercury, with his symbols, Hendrik Goltzius, 1610

January 13th (10:37 AM EST) Sun semi-square Neptune creates feelings of uncertainty and inadequacy may make it difficult for us to focus and make sound decisions. Our sense of self is clouded by the nebulous energy of Neptune in Pisces, making it difficult to get a clear grasp on what it is we really want and who we are. Sun/Neptune aspects (especially the stressful aspects) often force us to look outside of ourselves for direction. Interacting with those who can give us solid feedback can be beneficial.

January 13th  (5:59 PM EST) Sun trine Jupiter. We’re dreaming big and doing big when the Sun forms positive aspects to Jupiter in Virgo. There may be a strong need for us to have our egos stroked, don’t take it overboard. Expansive ideas and goals may be shared with others. We’re feeling positive and hopeful and simply want to spread the joy. Jupiter is a planet of faith and philosophy. Studying these topics can bring a sense of happiness and inner contentment. Be hopeful and dream big.

January 13th (7:26 PM EST) Venus Square Chiron. Wounds surrounding love and how we express love may pose a challenge, yet challenges can bring forth change and action. Venus is a planet associated with the arts. Art is the perfect conduit for healing (Chiron). Difficulties relating and interacting with others may be triggered by past experiences dealing with abandonment; sometimes it has to hurt before it heals. We’re on a quest of self-discovery. Use Chiron as a bridge to self-love and understanding.

January 14 (9:05 AM EST) Sun conjunct Mercury. Communication is vital to our identity and sense of self. Expression through writing is particularly strong and for those who are writers, the combined Capricorn energy gives you the focus and tenacity that’s needed to follow through on creative projects. The ego (Sun) and words (Mercury) are tightly intertwined with this aspect. We’re confident in our abilities to express ourselves. Just try not to let your internal dialogue drown everyone else out.

January 14th (9:15 PM EST) Mercury trine Jupiter. We have big ideas and aren’t afraid to share them or talk about them. Mercury/Jupiter is a master at spinning tall tales. Wonderful opportunity for problem solving and brainstorming with others. We’re more than willing to work with others and seek common ground.

January 15 (1:31 AM EST) Mercury semi-square Neptune. Mercury/Neptune aspects are often intuitive and creative in nature, yet when we’re dealing with tense energy such as the semi-square there may be a struggle to stay focused. Day dreaming and the inability to focus can puta damper on our thought process and our creative endeavors. Communication may be vague and lack of attention to details creates a major challenge. If possible try to too vague when expressing yourself; forgetting details and being half-assed is certainly not the way to go.

January 16th (10:25 AM EST) Mercury semi-sextile Venus. Our words are gentle and sweet, as are those who interact with us. There’s a feeling of charm and gentleness when we interact with others. There’s emphasis on art, beauty and creative writing.

New Moon in Capricorn – January 9th, 2016: If we can dream it, we can achieve it.

Posted on Updated on

Sidney_Hall_-_Urania's_Mirror_-_CapricornusTonight’s Capricorn New Moon at 19 degrees (January 9th, 8:30 PM EST)brings with it the ambition and strong work ethic that gives us the ability to make our dreams a tangible reality. The New Moon forms a conjunction to Pallas (also known as, Pallas Athene) Zeus’ daughter; our ideas and thought process are brought to life through hard work and responsibility. The urge to get a move on and make things happen is quite strong with this New Moon. If you can dream it, you can achieve it, is the motto.

Our goals are further supported by the New Moon’s trine to Jupiter in Virgo. Our dreams are extended beyond the self and the strong earth energy gives us both focus and discipline. Capricorn likes to play by the rules, and their desire for status and success gives them the drive to reach the highest of mountains. We may find ourselves wanting to impress the right people; just make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons.Over doing it (Jupiter can go overboard) can create a certain level of greediness when it comes to rubbing elbows with the right people and our desires.

Cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Libra and Cancer) between 18-20 degrees will more than likely be impacted the most. The house where the New Moon transits will be illuminated bringing with it a pragmatic approach and the New Moon’s opposition to Earth in Cancer brings balance between self-control/caution and emotional connecting.

Capricorn’s symbol, the sea-goat, has the ability to explore the hidden depths of the soul while reaching the seemingly impossible heights of success. The New Moon’s wide conjunction to Pluto adds even more power to our need to succeed.

Venus and Saturn in Sagittarius form a tight conjunction encouraging us to accept responsibility, be committed, yet do so with an adventurous spirit and positive outlook. Stressful aspects between Venus/Saturn can often have a dismal approach to life, but the conjunction forms a trine to Uranus. We can work towards being disciplined without sacrificing our individuality. Uranus’ square to the Moon/Sun creates exciting and unique ways to make our dreams come true.

Neptune in Pisces trines Mars in Scorpio brings the gift of acting on our dreams. Our fantasies aren’t merely in the deepest part of the subconscious; we can actually act on these ideals and visions, bringing them to life. Career goals and achievement are the focus during this New Moon. We’re more than willing and prepared to deal with our duties; creating tangible results in the process.

The Adoration of the Kings
The Adoration of Kings, Flemish (c. 1520s)

On January 7th (7:22 AM EST) The Sun at 16 degrees Capricorn squares Uranus in Aries at 16 degrees; expect the unexpected when Capricorn’s methodical and industrious energy bumps heads with Uranus’ erratic nature. Squares are usually internal conflict, but it’s through these conflicts that we become inspired to transmute difficulties into learning experiences. We’re dancing to the beat of our own drummer and not interested in playing by the rules. Try not to be difficult for the sake of being difficult. Our dislike of monotony may have us seeking out radical changes.

January 7th (11:40 PM EST) Jupiter’s expansive nature slows down as it begins its retrograde phase. Restraint may be needed in order for us to get back on track. Jupiter is very much the planet of big dreams and over the top behavour; yet there’s a philosophical and spiritual tone to Jupiter’s nature. After all, it was Pisces’ original ruler.

This is a time of reflection and contemplation; Jupiter in Virgo retrograde period may have us feeling as though our hopes and dreams have been deflated. Was it all for nothing? Look to the house that is ruled by Virgo to see where you may need to cut back a bit in order to find focus. You may have to take it down a few notches and fall back from a situation that you were gung-ho about. Jupiter is also a planet of education and learning. You’re the best teacher in this situation. Trust yourself.

January 8th (9:15 AM EST) Sun at 17 degrees Capricorn Sextile Chiron in Pisces at 17 degrees. The ego (Sun) merges nicely with the need for self-transformation and healing. The climate is ideal for pursuing solutions to some of the wounds we may be dealing with. We may offer healing and counsel to those around us.

January 8th (11:11 PM EST) Venus at 12 degrees Sagittarius conjuncts Saturn. We may feel a bit cautious when it comes to love, especially if we feel there are no concrete guarantees; feelings of isolation or feeling unloved may color our attitude and thoughts. Know that this too shall pass and you are indeed deserving of love. Cracking down on finances may be needed. You’ll be surprised by the fact you can actually live with less.

January 9th (12:25 PM EST) Mars’ Quintile to Pluto allows us to tap into the rich gifts and opportunities that Pluto has to offer. The lord of the underworld isn’t all doom and gloom; Pluto is the ultimate transformer. Our focused energy (Mars) helps us get to the bottom and penetrate anything that gets in our way. We create alchemy though sheer willpower.

January 9th (8:30 PM EST) New Moon in Capricorn at 19 degrees (I’ll be doing a separate post for this)

January 10th (7:23 AM EST) Mercury in Capricorn Semi-Square Venus in Sagittarius. There may be some challenges when it comes to expressing ourselves. Conflict between our love nature and intellect may clash causing internal stress. Understanding others could pose a bit of a challenge as well. If you’re not feeling up to the challenge and the very thought of interacting with others seems daunting, take a step back.

Mars enters Scorpio – January 3rd, 2016: Magnetic initiative & profound intensity

Portrait of a young black woman, Simon Willem Maris, 1890’s

The warriors spirit takes an interesting turn when it enters the dark waters of Scorpio (January 3rd, 9:32 AM EST) until March 5th, when it then ingresses into Sagittarius. Mars in the natal chart gives insight into one’s physical energy and how one takes action. Mars is also linked to physical/sexual attraction and excitement. Stimulation can be discovered through working with Mars energy; when in the water signs, intuition is often used to bring about tangible results. Mars is focused/directed energy.

Mars in Scorpio has a drive and focus that is ferocious and calculating. The Mars in Scorpio individual is often covert and investigative; they assert themselves through intense emotions. Mars isn’t exactly well-placed in this particular sign. The Martian energy, if under duress, can use manipulative means in order to obtain their goal, but for the most part Mars is Scorpio is highly passionate and focused when it comes to what they want. They often make amazing private investigators and researches. When it comes to getting to the bottom of a situation, no one does it like Scorpio. They pretty much have X-ray vision in that respect.

The Mars in Scorpio individual has strong sexual urges that are expressed and shared through deep emotional and psychological bonding. Not as bold or upfront, as say, Mars in Aries, Mars in Scorpio tends to get the job done behind the scenes. Issues surrounding self-protection and the need to control almost every situation that crosses their path can be an issue, especially with more stressful aspects such as the square and opposition.

How will Mars’ ingress into Scorpio impact us on a personal level? Our ability to move forward and make things happen may be dampened by obsessive secretiveness and selfish desires. The more positive expression of this energy will be Scorpio’s fixed nature; our desires are guided through intuitive abilities and a strong sense of inner knowing. The need to achieve will be persistent and calculating. We’re taking no prisoners this time around! The, meet-you-half-way energy that Mars in Libra ushered in, will be the furthest from our minds. We’re going to make things happen, no matter what the cost. We’ll more than likely be courageous behind the scenes.

Healing stones for Mars in Scorpio: Mars can be quite aggressive if not properly harnessed. Scorpio, if operating on a lower vibration, can be possessive and compulsive; Scorpio is very much a sign of purging, psychic sensitivity and powerful regenerative abilities. Use this energy to tap into your deepest desires and healing emotional involvement with others.

  • Lapis Lazuli – Good for empowerment
  • Sardonyx – Excellent to work with for determination
  • Smoky Quartz – Helps to release blockages (Scorpio tends to have issues with emotional blockages due to subconscious fears of being overwhelmed by their emotions. This can lead to secretiveness, trust-issues, and feeling as though they can’t “open up”)
  • Obsidian – Another stone that’s good for determination (Mars)
  • Black Star Diopside – A stone for sheer will-power and addictive patterns (water signs in general can suffer from addiction issues)

Sidney_Hall_-_Urania's_Mirror_-_Cancer
Urania’s Mirror, 1825

The winter solstice brought with it the Sun’s ingress into Capricorn on December 21st; we’re now being guided towards the first Christmas Full Moon in 38 years. The Cancer Full Moon at 3 degrees greets us at 6:12 AM EST, bringing with it the nurturing and family-centered energy Cancer’s are known for and what better time to explore this kind of vibe than on Christmas? The Full Moon’s trine to Neptune in Pisces creates a dreamy aspect, the urge to escape the physical world and perhaps a softening of our emotional responses. Nostalgia and dreams pertaining to the maternal nurturing we received as children, and possibly as adults, may color our emotional make-up. The Cardinal signs (Cancer, Aries, Libra, Capricorn) will more than likely feel this energy a bit more intensely than others.

The Moon’s location in the solar 4th house conjunct the IC does bring about a concentrated emotional focus on family and the mother/father axis (4th/1oth houses) The 4th house is the physical home as well as childhood experiences. The holiday season always has us reminiscing about the past.

Xmas Full MoonVenus’ sextile to both Mercury and Jupiter sweetens this Full Moon further. Extravagance (Venus/Jupiter) and pleasant interchanges (Venus/Mercury) are perfect for gatherings and being with those we love. The inner tension we may have been feeling these past few weeks seems to be easing up a bit. There may be a lot of temptation to indulge and over do it today. You only live once, so why not?

Mercury Trines Jupiter at 3:18 PM EST. Expansion, over-flowing of ideas and sharing thoughts with those who have similar interests could be the focus. Mercury/Jupiter aspects are known for their tall tales and curiosity; a wonderful aspect for socializing

Uranus stations direct at 10:52 PM EST This will surely have us releasing a sigh of relief, especially those with a large number of planets in Cardinal signs. While Uranus can bring about freedom, excitement and change, it can also usher in extreme chaos that threatens to shake up our sense of security. Uranus’ square to Pluto in Capricorn certainly wasn’t helping matters. The turbulent roller coaster ride we’ve been on may be finally settling down a bit; don’t get too comfortable, though. Uranus will still be rattling our cages, but we’ll be better equipped to handle it.

Healing Stones for this Full Moon: These are perfect stones for love and healing. The holidays in particular can often trigger old wounds.

  • Rose Quartz
  • Pink Moonstone
  • Moonstone
  • Pink Tourmaline
  • Clear Quartz

Mercury Squares Mars on December 29th 9:52 AM. Verbal confrontations and communication battles could have us blowing our stack. Anyone who comes for us or poses a threat may walk away with more than their feelings hurt. Keep a cool head (and mouth)

Venus enters adventurous Sagittarius on December 30th at 2:16 AM EST. The constant need to explore and have freedom may have us struggling to hang in there for the long haul. Sagittarius tends to view love and relationships in a very broad-minded kind of way and this can create problems for those who may be looking for a more concrete expressions of love (I’ll be doing a post on Venus in Sagittarius)

Happy Holidays!

The adoration of the Magi
The Adoration of Magi, Pieter Coecke van Aelst, 1502-1550

Yesterday, December 8th, we were reveling in our uniqueness when the Sun formed a trine to Uranus (9:37 PM EST) Our sense of individuality took center stage ushering in invetiveness and the need to separate ourselves from the flock. Uranus in Aries leads the pack when it comes originality and freedom; our dislike of monotony may have us feeling more reckless and adventurous than usual. Being unique always feels wonderful, but being difficult or combative just for the sake of standing out isn’t always the right approach. Our unpredictability may have frustrated more focused and disciplined souls. Sagittarius adds an additional layer of adventure and free spiritedness. This energy could also have us bumping heads with authority. We’re done following the rules.

On the 9th the Sun’s square to Chiron (5:03 AM EST) may have us licking our wounds a bit. This is a complete 360 from the ego boost we receive on the 8th. Sun/Chiron interactions, especially the stressful aspects, create a crisis of the ego/self. Chiron symbolizes transmutation; while the process of healing and transformation can be painful, the rewards are great. Chiron can be both healer and “killer.” Ego destruction can lead to better understanding of the self, thus leading us onto a path of enlightenment. Mentoring is also a Chiron trait. Counseling others can aid us in our own healing quest.

Mercury enters Capricorn today (the 9th) as well at (I plan on writing a separate post for this) 9:33 PM EST. Our communication efforts may be a bit more reserved than usual. Being overly cautious, which Capricorn can be, makes it difficult for us to express ourselves; Capricorns cautiousness can actually come in handy, giving us the discipline that’s required to complete projects that yield tangible results. This is a major shift from the pie-in-the-sky energy that Mercury in Sagittarius put forth.

On the 10th Mars opposes Uranus 8:30 PM EST. The need for independence, excitement and sexual thrills may put us on a path that leads to rebelliousness and reckless behavior. Mars/Uranus is always on a quest for newness. This can create impulsiveness that can backfire if we’re not careful. Arguments and bumping heads with those who may not see eye-to-eye with us may be a major hurdle as well. Mars in Libra’s agreeable nature clashes with Uranus in Aries’ need to be top dog. Play nice if you can!

New Moon in Sagittarius – November 11th, 2015: Experimentation & Open Spirit

Posted on

Sandro_Botticelli_063 (1)
Pallas and Centaur, Botticelli (1482-83)

The Centaur’s arrow takes flight on November 11th bringing with it a New Moon @ 19’20 degrees 5:30 AM EST. The New Moon’s trine to Uranus brings forth an electric energy that propels us towards our own personal truth. Freedom and experimentation can bring us closer to the openness we need in order to bring about self-improvement. Sagittarius is the eternal optimist who’s constantly working on greater and bigger plans. Core beliefs and strong philosophical views about the world are also traits that Sagittarius posses. Remain broad-minded and spontaneous the results may surprise you.

New Moon’s are about beginnings. This is the perfect time to manifest what we really want.

Venus trines Neptune; the ultimate manifestation of creative expression and spiritual bliss. Idealism and escapism can improve artistic pursuits (for all of you creative types out there) Venus in Scorpio’s erotic nature coupled with the fantasy Neptune in Pisces expresses can have us fantasizing and daydreaming more than usual. Try not to go overboard, donning our rose-colored glasses can sometimes cause more harm than good.

Mars quincunx Chiron creating a somewhat difficult push for us to Sagittarius NMmanifest and take action; difficult aspects such as the quincunx always create a certain level of inner tension that forces us to hop in the driver’s seat and take control. We’re hell bent on coming to terms with being self-assertive, even if we find ourselves stumbling in the process. Mars in Libra already tends to struggle with avoidance and dodging unpleasant situations that need to be confronted head-on because the need for peace and tranquility is so strong.

Pallas‘ conjunction to Pluto for me in this chart is more of a collective consciousness/energy. This is intense energy combined with the creativity, intelligence, and focused skill that Pallas (also known as Pallas Athene) possesses. Our insight at this time can help to transform others or have us shapeshifting into know-it-all’s who are obsessed with a particular thought process. Try and use this energy for personal advancement instead.

Venus enters Scorpio – December 4th, 2015: Intense Feelings, Transformation, & Sexual Desires

Posted on

fernand-cormon-jealousy venus in scorpio
“Jealousy in The Harem,” Fernand Cormon, 1874

Venus enters Scorpio on December 4th at 11:19 PM EST. Venus is detriment when it’s in Scorpio. This sounds worse than it actually is; it simply means that the planet associated with love may have a difficult time functioning and expressing Venusian energy with Scorpio’s intense Plutonian energy involved. Venus in Scorpio creates the need for strong sexual desires and in some cases, the need may become so overwhelming that obsession takes over. Relationships are often deep, dark, and transformative in nature.

Venus in Scorpio certainly isn’t for the faint of heart! during this time we may find ourselves digging deeply into our love lives and how we express love  to those who are close to us. There may some internal conflict between wanting to merge with those we love and wanting to be secretive about our deepest feelings due to trust issues. Scorpio often struggles with being consumed by their feelings; power plays and struggles often arise in romantic relationships due to their compulsive need to control the situation and in some extreme cases, those they love.

We have to be especially cautious of  not using manipulation and sex as a tool to control those around us. Emotional control can backfire. Remember that. Being vengeful and calculating is the lower vibration of Scorpio.

The best way to deal with this kind of energy is to use and express love in a healing way (Scorpio’s make wonderful healers) that encourages growth and most importantly, transformation. No one rises from the ashes like a Scorpio. Scorpio has the ability to tap deeply into the psyche and explore all of the dark riches that dwell there. This allows them to uplift and encourage those around them. Scorpio’s are natural therapists. There’s no subject too dark or difficult for them to handle, and because of this gift, people tend to come to them for insight and emotional support.
